This summer we ran not just one, but two weeks of Summer Schools; one in Haywards Heath and one at Plumpton. Across the two weeks we welcomed over 70 students aged 4-19, who enjoyed classes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Repertoire and Musical Theatre, as well as guest workshops in Acro, Classical Greek and Musical Theatre.

We have already booked the venues for both Summer Schools next year, so why not get organised and book your child a place now!?

In August we held a graduation party for our very special seniors who are leaving to go onto university or dance colleges. Hazel Astbury will be joining other Turning Pointe alumni at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and Téa Ellis will be starting a Musical Theatre course at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA).

Whatever their next steps, we wish all of our seniors the best of luck in the future- please keep in touch and come back and visit us in the holidays!

We're delighted to share the news that we have made the final 5 in the category of 'Best Children's Business' in the Sussex Muddy Stilettos Awards! Please vote for us on the Muddy Stilettos website. Voting closes on Sunday 4th June.

We really appreciate everyone's support. As a small local business these awards are a lovely recognition of all the hard work our teachers put into their classes!

If you're looking for childcare and a fun activity to occupy your children this summer in Sussex, look no further than Turning Pointe's Summer Dance Camp!

This year we will be running two weeks' of our popular children's Summer Dance Camps, one at the Albemarle Centre, Oathall Community College (31st July-4th August) in Haywards Heath and one at Plumpton Village Hall (21st-25th August), located between Lewes and Ditchling.

There will be an exciting programme of different dance styles offered across two weeks, including special guest teachers- so watch this space!

For both weeks we are offering:
Ages 4-6, 9.30-12.30pm, at a cost of £100 for the week
Age 6+, 10am-3pm, at a cost of £150 for the week

Children who aren't Turning Pointe students, or who are new to dance, are very welcome, so please share the details with anyone who might be interested.

These summer dance camps are easily accessible from across Sussex. Our students come from across Sussex, including Haywards Heath, Lindfield, Lewes, Burgess Hill, Cuckfield, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, Brighton and Hove.

On April 5th and 6th 2023, 115 students aged 2-7 performed in Turning Pointe's 'Razzmatazz Minis'- a showcase of Ballet and Modern dances to songs from musicals and films, including Frozen, Encanto and Mary Poppins.

This is the first time that Turning Pointe has put on a show specifically for it's youngest pupils, and it was heart-warming to see how they rose to the challenge onstage and each enjoyed their moment in the spotlight.

Lianne Carter, Turning Pointe Principal, commented "The most touching thing was seeing all of the parents' faces in the audience as they got to watch their children onstage. There was lots of clapping, laughing, and tears of pride!"

Turning Pointe offers a 'Tiny Turners' creative dance classes for children aged 18 months (pictured is the Tiny Turners in their 'Ugly Bug Ball' dance), Ballet from 2.5 years and Modern and Tap from 4 years. For more information please email office@turningpointedanceschool.co.uk

We are delighted to hear the news that Hazel successfully auditioned for both Northern School of Contemporary Dance and London Contemporary School of Dance (The Place) and has accepted her place at Northern, so in September she will be joining several other Turning Pointe Alumni already studying there!

Hazel danced with Turning Pointe from a young age and took Ballet and Modern classes as well as being part of our Performance Company. She also appeared in several of our shows, playing one of the lead roles of Kay in the Snow Queen in 2017 (pictured).

We wish Hazel all the best for this exciting next chapter and look forward to hearing about her time at Northern.

We are delighted to be offering two days of Easter-themed dancing and crafting on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th April at Plumpton Village Hall, 9.30-12.30pm, specifically for ages 4-8.

The cost is £20 per day and spaces are strictly limited to 15 students, so make sure you book one for your child before they get snapped up!

We are delighted that three Turning Pointe students successfully auditioned for places on the Degree programme at Northern School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance; Darcy Bodle, Phoebe Tucker and Sophie Spencer grew up together as friends during their time at Turning Pointe, and from September 2022 will be able to continue their dance training together at Northern. This is such wonderful news, congratulations to the three of you, and we cannot wait to see where your careers take you next!
